In the 38th match of the ICC T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka defeated the Netherlands by 83 runs. The entire Netherlands team was bowled out for 118 runs in 16.4 overs in response to Sri Lanka's 201 runs. Michael Leask and Scott Edwards were the top scorers for the Netherlands with 31 runs each, while Max and Seibrand scored 11 runs each, Aryan Dutt made 10, and Vikramjit Singh scored 7 runs. From Sri Lanka, Nuwan Thushara took 3 wickets, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesha took 2 wickets each. Sri Lanka scored 201 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. 


Sri Lanka first wicket fell at zero when Pathum Nissanka was out on the second ball of the match. Kusal Mendis scored 46 runs, Charith Asalanka 17, Dhananjaya de Silva 34, Angelo Mathews 30, and Wanindu Hasaranga 20 runs. Charith Asalanka aggressive innings of 46 runs off 21 balls, including 5 sixes and 1 four, was the highlight of Sri Lanka's batting. From the Netherlands, van Beek took two wickets, while Kingma, Aryan Dutt, Meekeren, and Tim Pringle took one wicket each. 

All matches of Group D will be completed today in the mega event. South Africa has already qualified for the Super 8 stage from this group, while the result of this match will determine the second team to qualify.
