In the upcoming four-day series against Bangladesh A, it has been decided to field some international players to represent Pakistan Shaheens.
According to media reports, the purpose of including several key international cricketers in the Pakistan Shaheens squad is to prepare for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
Recently, this suggestion was made by former captain and pacer Waqar Younis, who is overseeing cricketing matters in the presence of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
On the other hand, several top players, including Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who performed poorly in the T20 World Cup, have expressed their willingness to join the training camp. However, selector Mohammad Yousuf and his colleagues Asad Shafiq, captain Shan Masood, and red-ball coach Jason Gillespie will soon decide on the announcement of potential players for the Test team training camp.
Waqar Younis, who has recently assumed the role of PCB consultant, held his first meeting in Lahore, where the selection policy for Pakistan Shaheens was thoroughly reviewed.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the players included in this series should ensure that each player fully participates in the upcoming four-day match practice session. Due to domestic leagues and the International T20 World Cup, the last Test match against Australia was played in Sydney in January. Meanwhile, the training camp for the Pakistan Test team against Bangladesh A was proposed, involving several key international players like Saud Shakeel, Abrar Ahmed, Nauman Ali, and Abdullah Shafique.
It should be noted that the first four-day match of the two-match series will start on August 10, while the second match will be played on August 13. The first match of the three One-Day match series will be played on August 23, the second on August 27, and the third and final match on August 27.
The purpose of all these matches is not only to assess the players' form but also to prepare them for international cricket. This plan has been made to improve the overall performance of the national team so that they can strongly represent Pakistan at the international cricket level. It is hoped that these planned decisions will lead to better results for the national team in the future and significantly improve the team's reputation.
