The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to national cricket team captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi for the Global T20 event in Canada.

According to a statement released by the PCB, they had received NOC requests from Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi for the Global T20. However, after considering the team's exceptional workload and consulting with the three players and the selection committee, the PCB decided not to issue the NOCs.

The board stated that from August 2024 to March 2025, the Pakistan cricket team is scheduled to play 9 Test matches as part of the ICC World Test Championship. Additionally, the ICC Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan next year. Consequently, Pakistan will play 9 Tests, 14 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 9 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) during this period. Since all three cricketers are key to all formats, their services will be needed by the Pakistan team in the coming 8 months.

The PCB mentioned that in line with the workload management policy, it is in the best interest of Pakistan cricket and the players that these cricketers skip the event in Canada. This will ensure they remain in optimal mental and physical condition for the upcoming season, which begins with a two-Test series against Bangladesh.
