In the first match of the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup, South Africa defeated the USA by 18 runs.

In the ICC Men T20 World Cup Super 8 stage match held at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, South Africa scored 194 runs in the allotted 20 overs while batting first on the invitation of the USA.

Chasing a target of 195 runs, the USA team managed to score 176 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Andries Gous was the standout player with 80 runs.

Earlier, Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks opened the innings for South Africa, but this partnership did not last long as Reeza Hendricks returned to the pavilion after scoring 11 runs with the team total at 16 runs.

South Africa second wicket fell at a total score of 126 runs when opener batsman Quinton de Kock, who played a prominent innings of 74 runs, was caught out. On the very next ball, David Miller was caught by the bowler without scoring any runs.

South Africa fourth wicket fell at a total score of 141 runs when captain Aiden Markram was caught out after scoring 46 runs. Heinrich Klaasen remained unbeaten with 36 runs, and Tristan Stubbs remained unbeaten with 20 runs.

From the USA side, Nisarg Patel and Harmeet Singh each took 2 wickets.

It is worth noting that the USA captain Aaron Jones won the toss and invited South Africa captain Aiden Markram to bat first.
