For the first time in T20 World Cup history, a record of 500 sixes has been set in a single edition.
During the second semi-final of the
T20 World Cup, jointly hosted by the USA and the West Indies, Indian cricketer
Axar Patel hit the 500th six of the mega event's history.
In the host countries, 500 sixes
were hit across 51 matches of the World Cup, averaging about 9.8 sixes per
match.
In the 2021 World Cup, 405 sixes
were hit in 45 matches, 331 sixes in 42 matches in the 2022 mega event, 314
sixes in the 2016 edition, and 300 sixes in the 2014 edition.
Additionally, in the 2010 edition, a
total of 278 sixes were hit in 27 matches.
