Afghan openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran have surpassed the Pakistani captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan duo.
The Afghan opening pair has become the pair with the highest partnership
runs in the current T20 World Cup edition. Both players set this record during
the Super 8 match against Bangladesh.
In the World Cup held in Dubai in 2021, the national team captain Babar Azam
and Mohammad Rizwan made 411 runs as partners, whereas in the current edition,
Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have set the record with a partnership of
442 runs.
The Afghan duo has also become the pair with four fifty-plus partnerships in
a single World Cup edition. They have had three century partnerships between them,
which is a record for a World Cup edition.
